Spice things up on Facebook! Don't be scuuured.

Last week we spoke about what the marketing process should look like. Capture leads on social media, direct them to your email list, take care of them through the valuable content in your email campaigns then convert them into paying customers. This week I want to talk about those social media posts that are going to grab their attention and the attention of their friends.

If you are not a tech-savvy teenager, navigating social media may feel like you are sailing across the world without a map. Social media doesn’t have to feel overwhelming. Think about it as a quick way to mail a letter. You write your message and you send but in this instance, you hit “post”. There are several different types of posts that you can do on Facebook to deliver your message. We will talk about those and how mixing it up helps keep the attention of your audience. Like I always say, think of this marketing game as dating, you want to spice things up once in a while so things don’t get stale.

Video: Have you ever received a text from someone and thought “gee, that was rude” because you couldn’t translate their tone over text? That is why video is wonderful to reveal who you truly are and gain the trust of your audience. You can record perfectly quality videos on your phone and edit them if needed with apps like KineMaster, Adobe Clip or Movie Maker. You can even get someone on Fiverr to edit videos for you. Be sure to use your Google Drive to save your videos so you can access them from your laptop or your phone.

Live Video: You can’t get any more authentic than Facebook Live. Fans get your bloopers and all. Although it may be nerve-wracking to put yourself on display like that, once you do it a few times, you will enjoy the rush of adrenaline that you feel. You conquer your fear of being on live video thus gain more confidence. Confidence is what attracts your loyal customers to you.

Pictures: Pictures leave much to the imagination. You can put a simple “Caption this” on your post to start the conversation going. Sometimes people just want to see your face to feel like they know you. Therefore, the occasional happy selfie can brighten someone’s day. Just don’t overdo it on the selfies. Other pictures that do well are those of you and other people. Whether it shows you in action at work or enjoying time with your loved ones, when taken right, pictures can make your relatable.

Slideshow: Have a huge event? Create a slideshow of pictures. The photos that you add to your slideshow will create a video type post that allows your audience to see the pictures in movement. You can even make your own gif using the slideshow feature. Having action on the post may catch your audience’s attention more than a still picture.

Carousel: I love the carousel option because it allows you to add a destination URL! If you have an online store and you want people to see your products, try using the carousel option to show off pictures of your products. Then add a link to your store for people to click and buy the items they see.

Conversation Starter: Sometimes people want things simple. Sometimes they just want to talk. We have a list of conversation starters in our private mastermind group to help you get the conversation going on. Everyone wants to voice their opinion and be heard. This list of conversation starters will make people want to chime in and get their friends to chime in too.
